Breeding Basics: Get the Exact Pal You Want

Jul 10, 2026

Stop hoping for the right Pal and start building it — how two parents make a child, and how to plan the exact one you want.

Breeding is how you stop hoping for the right Pal and start building it on purpose. Once it clicks, it's one of the most satisfying loops in Palworld — so here's how to get the exact Pal you're after.

How two parents make a child

Drop two Pals into a Breeding Farm with a cake on hand, and they'll produce an egg. What hatches isn't luck of the draw — every Pal has a hidden internal value, and the game averages the two parents to land on one specific child species. Same two parents, same result, every time.

That predictability is the whole trick. Breeding isn't gambling on which Pal you get; it's a recipe. The only real rolls of the dice are the finer details — passive skills and stats — not the species.

Unique combos are where it gets fun

Most pairings follow that averaging rule, but Palworld is full of unique combos: special pairings that produce one specific Pal, rules be darned. A lot of the rare and Legendary Pals — say Anubis — and many of 1.0's new variants like Blazamut Ryu or Chillet Ignis only come from one exact pairing.

You could try to memorize all of these. Or you could let the tool do it.

Use the calculator both directions

Our breeding calculator works two ways, and both are worth knowing:

  • Forward: pick two Pals you own and see exactly what their egg becomes. Great for "what can I even make with these?"
  • Reverse: pick the Pal you want and get every parent pair that produces it. This is the one you'll reach for most — start from the goal and work backward.

Not sure what to chase yet? Browse the full Paldeck; every entry ties into the breeding data, so you can wander until something catches your eye.

Plan a chain, not just one hop

Sometimes your dream Pal is several steps away and you don't own either parent yet. That's where the breeding-path finder earns its keep — tell it what you've got and what you want, and it maps the shortest chain of pairings to get there, one egg at a time.

It turns "I have no idea how to get that Pal" into a clear shopping list of in-between Pals to breed along the way.

Passives and stats ride along

Remember, breeding locks in the species but not the details. The passive skills and hidden stat rolls a child inherits come from its parents too — so the very same recipe can hand you a plain version or a stacked one. If you care about those, breed with parents that already carry what you want, then check the odds in the passive-breeding tool before you commit to a pairing. It's the difference between just any Anubis and your Anubis.

A simple game plan

  • Pick your target in the Paldeck.
  • Run it through the reverse calculator to see which parents make it.
  • If you don't own those parents, hand the whole thing to the breeding-path finder.
  • Breed your way up the chain, holding onto useful passives as you go.

Where to go next

That's the core loop: decide, look it up, build it. Fire up the breeding calculator, pick something you've always wanted, and go make it happen.
