What does the path finder do?
It finds the shortest chain of breeding steps from a Pal you already have to the one you want — handy when a Pal can't be bred in a single pairing.
Why does it take more than one step?
Some Pals can't be produced directly from your starting Pal, so the tool chains intermediate Pals to bridge the gap in as few steps as possible.
What if there's no path?
If nothing turns up within eight steps, that Pal usually needs to be caught in the wild rather than bred toward.
